  1. Pelvic Venous Insufficiency meeting
  2. The UIP sent two representatives (Drs. Nicos Labropoulos and Zaza Lazarashvili) to a meeting designed to develop a classification system for patients with Pelvic Venous Insufficiency, held in Chicago, Illinois, USA in July 2018. This meeting was organized by the American Society for Interventional Radiology and American College of Phlebology.

  3. UIP Official Journal
  4. As was reported during the General Council meeting in Melbourne, the UIP has opted out of its contract with Minerva, publisher of International Angiology, as the official UIP journal. The UIP is in discussions with Phlebology, Journal of Vascular Surgery, and the European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery to be the new UIP official journal.

  5. Proxy voting
  6. The UIP constitution provides for proxy voting for UIP member societies not in attendance at the General Council meetings. Because of the potential for bias and corruption, the Executive Committee is considering bringing to the General Council meeting in Krakow consideration to eliminate proxy voting during the General Council meetings.

  7. UIP Voting rules
  8. The Executive Committee is discussing voting rules changes that would require countries with more than two societies to form a federation of all their societies that will have two (2) votes during the General Council meeting. Currently such countries have one vote for the original member from that country, and all other societies have only one vote to share.

  9. UIP Auspices
  10. Discussions are underway regarding policy changes for the granting of UIP auspices. Suggestions will be presented to the General Council in Krakow.

  11. Education and Scientific Standardization Committees
  12. Chairs of the Education and the Scientific Standardization committees are currently seeking committee members. Anyone wishing to serve on those committees should contact directly Oscar Bottini (bottini2@gmail.com), Chair of the Education Committee, or Andrew Bradbury (andrew.bradbury@btinternet.com), Chair of the Scientific Standardization committee.

  13. UIP2019 Chapter Meeting
  14. Dr. Tomasz Urbanek is forming his scientific program committee, and plans are progressing well for the UIP chapter meeting in Krakow, Poland in August 2019.

  15. UIP membership requirements
  16. UIP Membership criteria will be discussed at length during the next Executive Committee meeting in January 2019.

  17. Young Phlebology Group
  18. Formation of a “young phlebologist” group will be discussed at length during the next Executive Committee meeting in January 2019.

  19. Professional Congress Organizer (PCO)
  20. The choice of a Professional Congress Organizer (PCO) for the next UIP World Congress meeting in Istanbul in October 2021 will be made soon.
