UIP Constitutional Reform Update

The UIP Constitutional Reform Commitee and the UIP Executive have been involved in a comprehensive review of the Constitution of the UIP, identifying potential areas for discussion and review. In additon, legal opinion has been sought from two independent law firms, both of which have advised that the UIP Constitution is not legally compliant and is a historic document of no legal standing

In December 2021, member societies were sent a discussion paper outlining the areas of the constitution in need of reform. The UIP has received a number of comments from member societies. These have now been incorporated into the discussion paper and it attached here for you to review

The UIP is seeking any comments from stakeholders about the topics in the document. Written submissions and comments should be sent to the UIP by email or post. Submissions should be sent:

The deadline for submisisons has been extended from the 1st of February to allow time to receive submissison. Submissions should be received by the UIP by 1st March, 2022.

All written submissions will be discussed in a General Council meeting, scheduled for the 5th of March, 2022.
